Fritz, Loraine W. "Boots" (5 FEB 1916 – 13 MAR 1999)

OWEN – Loraine W. "Boots" Fritz, 83, Marshfield, formerly of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), passed away at 3:04 a.m. March 13, 1999 at the Marshfield Center.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at United Church of Christ at Owen, with the Rev. Paul Petersen and Rev. Arden Fritz, and Rev. Ralph Claybaugh officiating.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery at Withee. Pallbearers will be Jason Klabon, Chris Schultz, Brad Schultz, Bill Klabon, Gaylord Kaduce, Larry Fritz, Bob Bakke, Gary Fritz and Dave Smith.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Maurina Funeral Home in Owen. There will be a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Loraine was born February 5, 1916 in Owen, the son of Walter A. and Belle (nee Rooney) Fritz. He attended Owen Elementary and graduated from Owen High School in 1934. He worked the farm with his dad and worked at the Owen Post Office for 26 years, retiring after six years as Postmaster of Withee. He married Mary Phillips February 20, 1937.

Loraine was a member of the Owen United Church of Christ and served as Treasurer for 16 years. He was also a member of the Masons, Scottish Rite body, the Order of Eastern Star, and the retired Postmasters (NARFE). Boots loved to hunt, fish, travel, work in the woods, and make maple syrup.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years, Mary Fritz of Marshfield; his children, Rev. Arden C. (Kathy) Fritz of Yucaipa, California, Ross E. (Jackie) Fritz of North Powder, Oregon, Giner (Johnie) Pitman of Coleville, Washington, Donna (Larry) Schultz-Looker of Mosinee, Mary Ann (Dennis Holcomb) Klabon of Stevens Point, and Miki (Kevin Mars) Fritz of Osseo; his sister, Polly Smith of Owen; his brother, Allen (Barbara) Fritz of Milwaukee; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jack and Earl Fritz; one sister, Eva Kaduce, and one son, Lash E. Fritz.

Memorial to the United Church of Christ in Boot's name would be greatly appreciated.
