Platt, Nancy Jean (Marriage – 28 June 1975)

Miss Nancy Jean Platt became the bride of David Gordon Hameloth in ceremonies performed June 28 at Midvale Gospel Church (Assembly of God), Wanaque, N.J., by the Rev. Harry Schaumburg. A wedding prayer was offered by the groom’s father.

The former Miss Platt is the daughter of Mrs. Verna Platt Brinkerhoff, Wanaque, N.J., and the late Arthur Platt. She was presented in marriage by her uncle and godfather, Henry Platt. The groom is the son of Mrs. Etta Jane Hameloth, Galesburg, Il., and Gordon Hameloth, Rt. 1 Willard.

A bouquet of pink carnations and yellow daisies highlighted the bride’s gown of eggshell crepe fashioned with reembroidered lace bodice inserts, a high, ruffled neckline and long sleeves caught by ruffled cuffs. Her head was covered by a white picture hat adorned with appliqued flowers.

Mrs. Kathy Wachs, Milwaukee, was the matron of honor and Mrs. Beth Lawrence and Linda Platt, the bridesmaids. Their gowns of printed voile were styled in shades of pink for the honor attendant and yellow and orange for the bridesmaids. White picture hats and bouquets of pink carnations and yellow daisies completed their costumes.

The mothers of the couple wore mint green gowns accented with rosebud and baby’s breath corsages.

The groom was attended by Duane Platt as bestman and Doug Lawrence and Kevin Platt as groomsmen.

Mrs. Joanne Hermonat was the organist. Vocal selections were by Linda Platt and Kenneth Hermonat.

Candlelighters were Judy Hameloth and Anita Platt.

A reception in the church fellowship hall followed the ceremony. A wedding dinner was served by the bride’s sister, Linda Platt of Wanaque, and the groom’s sisters, Judy of Minneapolis, Mn., Jane of Springfield, Mo., and Sally Hameloth of Minneapolis. The wedding cake was baked by Mrs. Frances Hopper, a friend of the bride’s family, who was in charge of the reception.

The newlyweds, classmates at Central Bible College, Springfield, Mo., graduated with bachelor of art degrees in May, her degree in religious education and his, in Bible and Missions. The groom did missionary work in Munich, Germany, in 1973 and in Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa, in 1974, and traveled with a musical trio in Wisconsin and Minnesota for one semester. They both toured with the Living Signs choir for three weeks after their graduation and during the past Easter vacation.

Following a week’s wedding trip to Wildwood, N.J., the couple planned to spend three weeks doing counseling at the Assembly of God Youth Camp in New Jersey and then travel with a singing group, for approximately six months, after which they will be assigned to a church as pastor’s assistants.
