American Legion Honors More Veterans (Mills - 2019)

Army Vet Mills to be Recognized by Legion

Allen Mills, a 1962 graduate of Neillsville High School, will be honored by the Legion Post 73 for years of service.

Mills, who attended Christie Grade School, joined the Neillsville area unit of the Army Reserves in June 1966. He attended basic training at Fort Campbell in Kentucky and later went to truck driving school at Fort Ord in California.

He was discharged in 1972 after six years of service, both in the Army Reserves and the 4th Cavalry in Madison and Milwaukee and various parts of the U.S., including the Michigan communities of Marquette and Beaverton; Philadelphia, PA; Charlottesville, VA; and Chicago, IL. He held various entry-and senior-level positions in manufacturing And supply chain management.

Mills married his wife, Helen Witt, in 1974. They have two children, Jason and Rachel, and three grandchildren.

Mills is a beekeeper. He likes to read. He is interested in political events and financial markets.

He is a Fitchburg resident. Mills is a member of Post 73.

Mills will be recognized along with his brother-in-law, Merlin Gerber, this Monday Oct. 7. There will be a social hour at 4:30 p.m. with a potluck at 5:30 p.m.
