Briski, James "Jim" (1950? – 16 OCT 2019)
James "Jim" Briski of Thorp, Wisconsin passed away at his home on Wednesday,
October 16, 2019, at the age of 69. He was surrounded by the land and
natural beauty he treasured.
James was born in Chicago, IL, to Frank and Ann Briski. Soon after, his
parents bought a small dairy farm in rural Thorp, WI, where Jim grew up. He
graduated from Thorp High School, and UW-Stevens Point, with a degree in
Biology. Jim married Darlene Slowiak, took over the home farm, and welcomed
two daughters, Jessica and Sarah, into the world.
Jim farmed for over 35 years. What he enjoyed more than anything, though,
was time spent hunting, fishing, and trapping. Nature was his passion, and
he held incredible knowledge of the outdoors in just about every aspect
imaginable. In the woods or out on the water is where Jim found his peace.
Over the years, James passed chapters from his wealth . of expertise on to
many who knew him. His grandchildren 1 were his greatest source of pride.
Sharing the outdoors with | them, be it through experiences or his forever
colorful and captivating stories, became the highlight of Jim's later years.
His unique character made an impact on anyone who met him. Those who knew
him best have certainly been shaped by his influence.
Jim is survived by his daughters: Jessica (Rick) Podolak of Eau Claire, WI,
and Sarah (Brad) Rogers of Augusta, WI; his grandchildren: Hunter, Riley,
and Kaylee Rudnick, Logan and Luke Podolak, and Brendan, Camryn, and Grace
Rogers; his mother, Ann Briski; his sister, Susan (Andy) B. Forayo; cousins;
nieces & nephews; and his loyal neighbors & friends. James was preceded in
death by his father, Frank Briski; his brother, Larry Briski; two cousins
and his aunts & uncles.
