Kling, Robert W. (4 May 1935 – 12 February 2009)

Robert W. “Bob” Kling, 73, of Taylor died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2009, at his residence.

He was born May 4, 1935, in Whitehall to parents Walter and Charlotte (McNab) Kling. He attended Taylor schools. He married Edith Lippert Aug. 16, 1952, in Taylor, and they farmed in the Taylor area for many years. Bob resided in the Town of Springfield his entire life.

Bob’s life centered on the farming life he loved, and his greatest love was spending time with his family. He was a very resourceful person, and he had the ability to weld and repair equipment with skill and precision.

Preserving the land for future generations was very important to him. He believed in cooperatives for farmers and served on the Jackson Electric Cooperative Board of Directors for many years. Years ago, he also served on the Pigeon Falls Creamery Cooperative Board of Directors.

He and his wife enjoyed traveling on their Goldwing motorcycle, and he also enjoyed attending auctions.

His strong determination to never give up was always present in his personality, even during his illness. His memory will live on in the gifts he has passed on to the future generation – the gifts of fine welding, good farming practices, mechanical abilities and the determination to see a job well done.

Robert is survived by his wife, Edith; four sons, Tom Kling, Steve (Patricia) Kling, Jeffrey (Debra) Kling and David (Treasa) Kling, all of Taylor; a daughter, Karen (Tim) Yeskie of Hixton; a sister, Susan (Duane) Hulett of St. Cloud, MN; 13 grandchildren, Nathan (Karen) Kling, Sarah (Lynn) Halverson, Joel, Sam, Allen, Barry, Rebecca and Maurine Kling, Amy (Brian) Schultz, Allison (Luke) Gerke and Mike, Bryan, and Eric Yeskie; seven great-grandchildren: besides many other relatives and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Charlotte Kling, and by a granddaughter, Kimberly Yeskie.

Funeral services for Robert W. “Bob” Kling were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at the Taylor Lutheran Church with Reverend Benjamin Ahles-Iverson officiating. Burial took place in the French Creek Cemetery, rural Taylor. Friends called Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton and also one hour prior to services at the church.

Bob’s grandsons served as Casketbearers. Honorary bearers were Bill Gilster, Duane Hoff and Kevin Janzen.
