McCullough, Marion E. (22 January 1910 – 26 November 2009) 

Marion E. McCullough, 99, of Black River Falls died November 26, 2009, at Family Heritage Care Center. 

She was born Jan. 22, 1910, in Wausau, the second of eight children born to Hans and Laura (Evanson) Berg.  Marion attended elementary and high school in Wausau.  Marion met her husband, Wesley Frank “Mac” McCullough while working at Winkelman’s Department Store in Wausau.  Marion and Mac were married in Winona, MN, Nov. 8, 1931.  They moved to Wausau, Winona, La Crosse, Merrill, Sault Ste. Marie and Portage, early in their marriage. They settled in Portage where they raised their three children. 

Marion enjoyed her work in retail sales at the Blue Style Shop and Loreli’s in Portage.  Marion was a member of the First Methodist Church in Portage, where she belonged to the Women’s Society and Pollyanna Club and taught Sunday school.  Wesley was a member of the Masonic order and Marion was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star.  Marion served as Worthy Matron of Eastern star and visited many chapters.  She was a page in Grand Chapter and attended General Grand Chapter in Seattle.  She was a member of White Shrine in Portage and in Madison where she was an officer.  Marion was also a member of the Pardeeville Eastern Star and the Pardeeville Study Club.  

Wesley died in 1980, after which Marion moved to Black River Falls to be near her son David and his family.  Marion enjoyed her many friends in Black River Falls, especially those at the Eighth Street Apartments, United Methodist Church, Parkside and Family Heritage Care Center. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley; parents, Hans and Laura Berg; five brothers, Norman, Lesle, Charles, David and Russell; one sister, Catherine; and a granddaughter Margaret Lynts. 

She is survived by three children, Kathryn Kennedy of Bothell, WA, Joan (George) Lynts, of Edgerton and David (Linda) McCullough of Black River Falls; nine grandchildren, Chris, Dan, Mike, Steve, Jeff and Erin, all of Washington State, Sharolyn (Lynts) Carpenter of Charlotte, N.C., David (Sara) McCullough of Hixton and Dan McCullough of Beach Park, IL; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Carol Schultz of New London; and two sisters-in-law, Katie (Russell) Berg of Wausau and Beatrice (Angus) McCullough of Eau Claire. 

A memorial service will be held in Portage Dec. 5, 2009, at 1 p.m.  Funeral arrangements are being handled by Torgerson’s Funeral Service of Black River Falls and Smith Funeral Home of Pardeeville.
