Cooper, Amanda (26 July 1920 – 9 January 2010)

Amanda “Mandy” Cooper, 89, of Beaver Dam died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at the Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The former Amanda R. Hove was born in the house she grew up in July 26, 1920, in Cannon Falls, MN, to the late Hans and Mabel (Sandee) Hove.  At the age of 12, she moved out on her own and worked six days a week preparing meals for a thrashing crew and as a housekeeper.  Later in her teens, Mandy worked as a waitress.  She always sent part of her wages home to her parents to help them with expenses.

In June of 1948, she was united in marriage with Forrest “Bill” Cooper.  They moved to Beaver Dam, where Mandy worked at Bergemann Grocery Store and then Piggly Wiggly until she retired. She really didn’t care for retirement so went back to work at the Fashion Bug in the mall and worked until she was almost 80 years old.

Mandy also volunteered at the Beaver Dam Hospital. She was the type of person that always put others before her self.  She would help her neighbors and she lived for her son, granddaughters and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her son, David (Carol) Cooper of Burnett; two granddaughters, Becky (Kent) Lange of Burnett and Katy (Brian) Drews of Waupun; six great-grandchildren, Dawson and Brielle Drews and Lydia, Kelvin, Kaleb and Abram Lange; two sisters, Marcella (Roy) Hurlburt of Worthington, MN, and Joanne (John) Bach of Bay City; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and seven brothers and sisters, Bob Henry Hove, Shirley Ramm, Doris Mohr, Myron Hove, Eldon Hove, Donald Hove and Dorothy Hove.

Funeral services will be held at Trinity Church-United Methodist in Beaver Dam Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010,a t 10 a.m.  Reverend Jeff Nicholas will officiate.  Burial will follow in the East Lawn Cemetery in Alma Center Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Visitation for Amanda was held at the Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will be held at Church Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
