Knippel, Frank L. (25 January 1892 - 21 August 1968)

Frank L. Knippel, 76, of Rt. 1 Neillsville, died August 21 in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. Funeral services were held Saturday from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville. The Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiated. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mr. Knippel was born January 25, 1892, in Dunn County, where he also attended school. As a young man he worked on a farm, later working in Milwaukee and Marshfield. In 1945 the family came to Neillsville and for many years he was employed at the Arbutus Locker plant. The family lived on a small farm on the cemetery road. Mr. Knippel retired from active work in 1964. On May 9, 1946, he was married to the former Leona (Styer) Galusch in Stillwater, Minn.

H is survived by his wife; four children, Robert of Menomonie, Mrs. Roy (Ruth) Price of Lebanon, Ore., Mrs. Bernard (Ruby) Plummer of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Byron (Deveda) Plummer of Rt. 2 Granton. Other survivors are a sister, Mrs. Otto (Minnie) Steinke of Menomonie, and a brother, Carl Knippel of Menomonie, 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville.

Pallbearers were: Alvin Jacob, Paul Jacob, Emil Wesenberg, Edward Greeler, Albert Marks and August Klann. Kendall Smith, accompanied by Victor Lehmann, sang, “I’m But a Stranger Here” and “Rock of Ages”.

People from out-of-town attending the funeral included: Mr. and Mrs. Roy Steinke of Chippewa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Knippel, Mrs. Minnie Steinke of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Grant Styer and Lloyd Styer of Menomonie; Mr. and Mrs. Ronne Post, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Plummer and Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Plummer of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Webb, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Plummer of Chicago, Ill.; Donald Webb and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Webb of Aurora, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Brehm of Janesville; Mrs. Clifford Knutson of Menomonie; Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Garbisch, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams of Granton; Mrs. Roger Williams of Lake Geneva; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Reals of Watertown; Mrs. Pauline Jennings and John of Aurora, Ill.; and Mrs. Jimmy Fay and daughter of Chicago, Ill.
