A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Randall Blaire, 306 N. 3rd Street, Abbotsford, on Tuesday, August 9, 1977 at the Marshfield Hospital. The baby weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and was named Nicholas Ryan.

His grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Francis Eiden and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Blair, Abbotsford.

Navy Airman Recruit James M. Ramminger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Ramminger, 502 W. Adams Street, Colby, has completed recruit training at the Naval Training Center, Orlando, Florida.

During the eight-week training cycle, trainees studied general military subjects designed to prepare them for further academic and on-the-job training in one of the Navy’s basic occupational field.

Included in their studies were seamanship, close order drill, Naval history and first aid.

A 1977 graduate of Colby High School, he joined the Navy in January 1977.

An official at Sheppard AFB, Texas, has announced the graduation of Airman Thomas A. Revord from the U.S. Air Forces’ aircraft maintenance specialist course conducted by Air Training Command.

Airman Revord, whose parents are Mr. and Mrs. Thomas C. Revord of route 1, Curtiss, is now trained to maintain, repair and service aircraft currently in use by the Air Force, and will serve at Langley AFB, Virginia. Completion of the course earned the individual credits towards an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

The airman is a 1977 graduate of Owen-Withee High School, Owen.

Gerald Ackeret, executive vice president of the Dorchester State Bank, Dorchester, was among the nearly 200 bankers from Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin that attended the eleventh session of the Midwest Banking Institute held July 24 – 29 at the Morris Campus of the University of Minnesota.

The Institute is sponsored by the bankers association of Minnesota, Montana, North and

South Dakota and Wisconsin will assist bankers in rural areas by providing information and understanding necessary to build a more secure and stable community, and to improve the banker’s ability to use appropriate management concepts.

Krebsbach, Mary (5 Aug 1977)

A wedding ceremony at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Colby on Saturday, August 5, 1977 united Mary Krebsbach and Kevin Lieders. The Rev. Francis P. Rushman officiated at the 5 p.m. ceremony. Vocalists were Kim Kaiser and Ruth Gabriel. Mrs. Bernadette Gabriel was organist.

Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Ray Krebsbach, Route 1, Colby, and Mr. and Mrs. Orville Lieders, Jr., Route 1, Colby.

Terri Mohan, friend of the couple, was maid of honor. Cindy Lieders, sister of the bridegroom and Sue Krebsbach sister of the bride, were bridesmaids. Jill Krebsbach, sister of the bride, was flower girl.

Attending the bridegroom was best man, Gregg Lynn. Keith Krebsbach and Roger Krebsbach, brothers of the bride, were groomsmen. Paul Lieders, a brother of the bridegroom, was ring bearer. Dale Krebsbach and Brian Lieders were ushers.

An ivory colored gown was lace cap sleeves were worn by the bride. The gown’s full skirt and chapel length train was edged with a double row of macramé lace. Lace edged the sweetheart neckline and fitted bodice. She wore a large rimmed hat trimmed with lace, from which a veil extended to the waist. She carried a bouquet of orchids, peach roses and baby’s breath.

Attendants were attired in coral halter styled gowns with chiffon capes. Their large rimmed hats with waist length veils were dotted with pearls. They carried side arm bouquets of peach roses, carnations and baby’s breath.

A dinner was held at St. Mary’s Hall with the reception following at the VFW in Colby.

The couple are both graduates of Colby High School. The bridegroom is employed by Lieders Trucking and Excavation in Colby. They will make their home at Green Acres Terrace in Colby.

School: Colby – Superintendent Goes to Workshop (Aug 1977)

The Colby School District was one of three school districts selected to participate in a tw0-day administrative workshop in Madison.

The workshop was sponsored by the Wisconsin Association of School Boards. The other two school districts were Beaver Dam and Madison.

Dr. William Thompson, superintendent, was a workshop leader, as well as presenter. Dr. Thompson made a presentation regarding the School District of Colby’s administrative job description, organization, compensation and evaluation.

The school district is one of seven Wisconsin school districts being considered for a pilot project to make an in depth study of the administrative organization for the 1977-78 school year. This model would be used by other districts in Wisconsin of similar size.

Approximately 60 participants took part in the workshop.
