Dankemyer, Mae (7 May 1906 - 7 October 1968)

Funeral services were held Friday from the Gilbertson Funeral Home in Granton for Mrs. Leo Dankemyer, 62, of Neenah, who died October 7, in Neillsville following a long illness. The Rev. William Dushek of Neillsville and Granton United Methodist churches officiated. Burial was made in Yolo Cemetery, Chili.

Mrs. Dankemyer, the former Mae Schmidtke, was born May 7, 1906, in the Town of Fremont. She was married to Leo Dankemyer December 4, 1926. They resided on a farm in the Chili area before moving to Neenah 18 years ago.

She is survived by her husband; a son, Kenneth, of Neenah; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Gustave Madler of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Ella Dumas of Tacoma, Wash.; and six brothers, Otto and William Schmidtke of Granton, Paul Schmidtke of Loyal, Ernest Schmidtke of Neenah, Henry Schmidtke of North Dakota and Herman Schmidtke of San Diego, Cal.

Pallbearers were: Al Loos, Howard Gelderneck, Victor Anderson, Raymond Mundt, Roy Portz and Henry Knoll. “How Great Thou Art” and “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” were sung by Mrs. Roger Helm, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Albert Grimm.
