Rasmussen-Hermanson

Sparta, Wisconsin will be the home of Miss Avice la Vaun Hermanson, who was given away in marriage by her father, Saturday August 21st at 4:00 P. M. to Mr. Norman N. Rasmussen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter N. Rasmussen, Marshfield.

The Bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hermanson, Spencer.

The Rev. A. C. Stapel, pastor of the Lutheran Church performed the ceremony at a beautiful candlelight service with floral decorations of palms, gladioli, sweet peas and caadlebra [sic -candelabra] holding tall white tapers.

A burgundy suit, dove gray hat with matching veil fastened under her chin and caught at her left shoulder with a beautiful [unreadable] orchid gloves and shoes of the same matching gray made up the bride’s outfit.

The maid of honor, her sister, Miss Marle Hermanson, also wore a suit of navy blue with burgundy accessories and to her shoulder was pinned a corsage of white gladioli, each gladiola centered with a deep red rose bud.

The groom’s suit was of beige gabardine. His best man was Mr. Walter Covin, a friend of Menominie [sic]. Ushering were David Justman of Edgar, cousin of the bride, and Vernon Kesler, Marshfield, also friend of the groom.

During the service Mrs. Norville Justman of Edgar, an aunt of the bride, sang “The Lord’s Prayer” and “O Perfect Love” accompanied on the organ by Miss Margie Kuethe.

The mother of the bride witnessed her daughters marriage gowned in forest green with brown accessories and wore a corsage of yellow tea roses, with clusters of matching ribbon. The groom’s mother was attired in a gold colored dress and wore talisman roses.

Thirty-five relatives and close friends of the contracting parties attended the reception and dinner held at the bride’s home after the ceremony. The home was also decorated with white gladioli, pink and white sweet peas and white candles. The huge three tiered wdding [sic] cake, a gift and made by Mrs. Ted Keekler of Marshfield, a friend of the bride, was a work of art decorated with tiny pink rose buds and a large pink rose nestling in mounds of snow white frosting at the top.

The happy couple left immediately on an unknown two day trip but returned Monday to leave again for Chicago to attend the Photographer’s State Convention. The groom himself being a photographer and operates a photographic studio at Sparta, Wis.

Mrs. Rasmussen has been employed at the Spencer State Bank and for the past two years at the Central State Bank at Marshfield.

Mr. and Mrs. Rasmussen will be at home to friends at Sparta after September 1st.
