Robert "Rupe" J. Ruppelt, age 69, of Fall Creek died suddenly Thursday while enjoying the outdoors at home.

Bob was born on September 21, 1931, in Augusta, Wis., to Robert and Esther (Piel) Ruppelt. He served our country in the Air Force as an electrician. From the age of 12, Bob worked for Eau Claire Cycle. In 1957 he became the proud owner of Eau Claire Cycle and has since supplied Schwinn Bicycles and Yamaha Motorcycles to thousands of people. He loved his community and enjoyed supporting it. Bob was a man who would do anything for anybody and had a true heart of gold. He loved hunting trips with his friends and especially being outdoors. He was a member of Brackett American Legion, Water Street Merchants Association and the American Motorcycle Association.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons, Cory of Fairchild, Dusty and Jim, both of Fall Creek; a daughter, Traci of Eau Claire; grandson, Jacob Robert; mother, Esther of Eau Claire; sister, Pat (Gary) Jennings of Eau Claire; brothers, Jack (Wendy) of Foster and Dale (Mary) of Eau Claire; father and mother-in-law, Gary and Esther Vollrath of Greenwood; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, loyal employees and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert in 1981.

A celebration of his life will be held 11 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2000, at Evergreen Funeral Home, Golf Road (1 block East of Hwy. 93).

Visitation is Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. Private interment. Memorials may be made to United Cerebral Palsy. Evergreen Funeral Home is serving the family.

In memory of Robert, Eau Claire Cycle will be closed on Monday, October 16.
