Sazama, Mary Janese (19 Nov. 1913 - 6 June 2000)

Mary Janese Sazama, 86, of 658 Heritage Court, Chippewa Falls, died Thursday morning, July 6, 2000, at her home.

She was born Nov. 19, 1913, in Madison, the daughter of Ella Frances (Conlin) and William Frederick Cline. She was raised in Madison where she graduated from St. Patrick\'s School, Madison East High School and the University of Wisconsin, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics, majoring in Nutrition. She did post-graduate training at Presbyterian Hospital, New York City. She was then head of the Dietetics Dept. at the Marshfield Clinic, Methodist Hospital and the Jackson Clinic in Madison.

Janese married Dr. John J. Sazama on June 22, 1939, in Madison. After their marriage, they resided in Bloomer for six years and have resided in Chippewa Falls since that time.

She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, Chippewa Falls, St. Joseph\'s Hospital Auxiliary, and the Elks Ladies.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. John J. Sazama; three daughters, Jane Helen Birtwistle of San Jose, Calif., Carol Mary Sazama of Medford, N.J., Elizabeth Ann (Bert) Pulitzer of Greenwich, Conn.; four sons, The Honorable Judge Thomas John (Mary) Sazama of Chippewa Falls, Richard Cline (Debra) Sazama, M.D. of Eau Claire, William Joseph (Janice M. Bischel) Sazama of Chippewa Falls, John Patrick (Alison) Sazama of Chippewa Falls; 12 Grandchildren, Bruce MacDonald Birtwistle, Sarah Janese (Christopher) Giusti, Helen Cline Birtwistle, Stephen Edward Sazama, Caroline Ann Sazama, Andrew John Sazama, Annalise Marie Sazama, Janese Cline Sazama, Alexander James Sazama, Graham Thomas Sazama, Ella Frances Sazama, Ellen Elizabeth Pulitzer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Helen Ruth Cline.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 8 at St. Charles Catholic Church, Chippewa Falls, with Father Frank Corradi of St. Olaf\'s Catholic Church officiating. Private family entombment will be held at Hope Mausoleum, Chippewa Falls.

Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m., Friday at Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel, Chippewa Falls. The family requests memorial contributions in Janese\'s memory to St. Charles Catholic Church.
