Thalacker, LaVerne (28 Jul 1923 – 1 Mar 1977)

LaVerne Thalacker, age 53, of Route 1, Owen, passed away at 2:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 1977 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, where he had been a patient since February 15.

Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 4 at the Kraut-Maurina Funeral Home in Owen, with the Rev. Harold Palmer officiating, and burial followed at the Union Cemetery in Cadott. Organist was Mrs. Bonnie Hansen and soloist was Mrs. Marilyn Hagen.

Pallbearers were Al Keiffer, Henry Stiemann, Emil Horner, Lavern Zschernitz, Andrew Matson, Bill Yeager, and Honorary Pallbearers were Robert Stulo and Niles Brandt.

Mr. Thalacker was born on July 28, 1923 at Ridgeland, Wisconsin. He lived in Chippewa Falls, then served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II. He returned to Chippewa Falls and worked for the Soo Line Railroad. He farmed in Anson Twonship at Cadott for four years before moving to the Town of Green Grove (Clark Co.), where he resided for the past seven years. He married the former Ione Foiles on May 22, 1946. She died February 18, 1965.

Mr. Thalacker is survived by four sons: Gary Thalacker of Owen, Dennis of Marshfield, James of National City, California, Richard of Owen; three daughters, Mrs. Bruce (Cheryl) Pller of Kirkland, Illinois, Sharon and Loren Thalacker of Owen; his mother, Mrs. Barbara Smith of Owen, and four grandchildren.
