Cathryn Diane Poppe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Poppe of Omaha, Nebraska, became the bride of Barry H. Tietgen in a 2:00 p.m. double ring ceremony July 2, 1977 at St. Paul United Methodist Church. The Reverend Alva Clark officiated. A reception was held at Maplewood Estates Clubhouse.

Mr. Tietgen is the son of Howard Tietgen and the late Elsie Tietgen of Elkhorn, Nebraska.

The bride chose a white organza with fitted bodice, styled with a sheer yoke, enhanced with Venice lace appliques, and sheer long cuffed sleeves. She wore a lace edged waltz length mantilla. The bridal bouquet was a cascade of white and yellow daisies and baby’s breath.

Attending the bride as matron of honor was her sister, Mrs. Dallas Wordekemper in yellow dotted Swiss with flocked daisies and lace trim. The bridesmaids were Mrs. James Blakely, sister of the groom, and Mrs. Jerry Johnson. They wore dresses of blue dotted Swiss with flocked daisies and lace.

The best man was Mrs. Jerry Johnson, and groomsmen were Mr. Ed. Lawler and Mr. Brian Tietgen, brother of the groom. Ushers were Mr. Dennis Grover and Mrs. Brian Poppe, brother of the bride. Miss Susan Myers of Mena, Arkansas, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. Chuck Blakeley, nephew of the groom, served as ring bearer.

Mrs. Tom Timm, Mrs. John Simons and Mrs. Jim Simons sang “Evergreen,” A Time for Us,” “ And I Love You So,” and The Lord’s Prayer.”

Cathryn is a 1974 graduate of Greenville High School, Greenville, Texas. She is presently enrolled at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Barry is a graduate of Blair High School, served in the U.SS. Navy and is now enrolled at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in the Physician’s Assistant program.

After a honeymoon trip to Lake Okoboji, Iowa, the couple will live in Omaha, Nebraska.

Attending from Owen was the bride’s grandmother, Mrs. Violet Poppe, and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Sillampa, uncle and aunt of the bride.
