NEILLSVILLE -- Clark County's 4-H junior and senior judging teams participated in the Northwest Wisconsin 4-H Dairy and Livestock Judging Contest in Ellsworth on June 20.

The senior team placed first among approximately 21 senior dairy judging teams. Team members were Danny Denk, Greenwood Satellites; Virgil Esselman, Loyal Lads and Lassies; Bev Howard, Pleasant Ridge, and Shelly Patterson, Beaver Center.

The team's first-plave finish earned it the right to compete at the Wisconsin State Fair during August for the state judging title. Alternates on the senior dairy team are Jeff Meyer, Maplewood Badgers, and Lori Geisking, Colby Clovers.

Outstanding individual performances in the senior division were as follows: Howard, seventh place; Esselman, 10th place; and Patterson, 12th place.

The junior dairy judging team placed fourth in the competition. Team members were Kim Friske, Greenwood Satellites; Lenny Howard, Pleasant Ridge; Randy Lew, Thorp Pine Valley; and Randy Meyer, Happy Hollow. Friske placed second in the individual overall judging competition. Scott Bowe, Greenwood Satellites, was the junior team alternate. He also represented Clark County in the showmanship competition and placed in the blue category.
