Grammer, Theodore and Margaret (50th Anniversary 7 June 1983)

Mr. and Mrs. Theodore G. "Ted" Grammer of 201 Hickory St., Abbotsford, who were married June 7, 1933 in St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Milwaukee, observed the golden anniversary of their wedding June 11-12.

That Saturday they had a 4 p.m. anniversary Mass at St Bernard's Catholic Church, Abbotsford, followed by a dinner in the church hall, and on Sunday open house at the Grammer home, given by their children and grandchildren. Mrs. Madelyne Thums was soloist and Mrs. Betty Decker, organist for the Mass.

Grammer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Katherin) Granmmer, was born September 21, 1910 in Herrin, Illinois and was educated there and in Chicago. Before marriage he owned and operated a restaurant in Milwaukee and managed a grocery store for the National Tea Co., Milwaukee.

His wife, the former Margaret Sellung, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis (Ina) Sellung, was born October 24, 1912 in Dana, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was educated in Manhattan, Montana, in the Town of Frankfort, Colby and in Milwaukee. She did housework in Milwaukee before she was married.

After the Grammers were married, he continued the grocery business he owned in Milwaukee, the worked for the Milwaukee Railroad two years, eight years for Sterling Motor Truck Co., then as a real estate broker and in general insurance with life insurance.

In 1947 they moved to Abbotsford. They had a small farm at Curtiss Corners two years, purchased a farm in the Town of Frankfort, Marathon County, was a real estate broker, had an insurance agency, was a tax practitioner and farmed at this location. He was clerk for the Town of Frankfort for 10 years and secretary-treasurer for the Town Association, Marathon County Unit, 10 years, In October 1982 they moved from the farm to Abbotsford, retiring the same year. He served on a committee as adviser for agriculture in the Colby School System for four years, and for five years served on the Parent-Teacher Association as legislature adviser for the 7th District.

They are members of St. Bernard's Catholic Church, Abbotsford. He also was recording treasurer of the Democratic party in Clark County two years,

His hobbies are music, fishing and travelling; hers are crossword puzzles, travelling and gardening.
