Marjorie S. "Marge" Singer, 81, of Sayner, formerly of Stevens Point, died Friday, May 2, 2008, at her residence.

Marge was born Feb. 5, 1927, in the town of Eau Pleine, the daughter of Ernest and Laure (Pendleski) Smrz. She graduated from PJ Jacobs High School in 1945 and married John Singer on Oct. 2, 1948.

Marge worked at an egg plant during World War II and then worked at Hardware Mutual, now known as Sentry Insurance, from 1945 to 1978, when she retired and moved to Sayner with her husband. She enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing and traveling with her husband. In recent years, her hobbies were puzzles, Packers football, NASCAR races and most of all she loved going to the casinos.

Survivors include brothers, Eugene (Jeannine) Smrz, Stevens Point and James (Mary Ann) Smrz, Junction City; sisters, Alice (Dan) Liebe, Junction City, Audrey (Wesley) Spreda, Stevens Point and Carol Schwobe, Oshkosh; many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and two sisters, Sally Berndt and Betty Bahr.

A mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. May 6 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sayner. The visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be at the Plum Lake Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Bolger Funeral Home of Minocqua and Woodruff is serving the family.
