Geske, Alice Mae (22 Dec. 1930 - 12 May 2008)

Alice Mae Geske, dear mother, wife, grandmother and special friend, passed away Monday, May 12, 2008, after a very courageous battle with cancer. Alice was a truly generous mother and grandmother, who gave freely from the heart. She will be sadly missed.

Alice was born Dec. 22, 1930, in Wausau, to John and Mary (Moshinski) Beyer. After graduating high school in Wausau, she married Jack G. Geske, also of Wausau. She worked as a clerk for many years in both Wausau and Eagle River. The family lived in Wausau until 1969, when they bought their lake home in Eagle River. This is where she made her final home, raising her two children and caring for her family.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Christine) Geske, Wabeno; daughter, Patty (Andrew) Yurman of San Diego; her grandchildren, Jacob Geske, Houghton, Mich., and Dana and Aaron Yurman, San Diego; sisters, Agnes Switlick, Lorraine Treu and Dorothy Rucinski; brothers, Bill Beyer and Lester Beyer; and stepbrother, Leo Kolpacki. Alice is survived by a very special friend, Mr. Bill Koff of Eagle River. Without Bill's love and dedication, Alice would not have been able to spend her last years in the comfort of her own home. Bill was truly a godsend in very difficult times. He will always have a place in the family's hearts.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary; stepmother, Ida Beyer; her husband, Jack Geske; grandson, Travis Geske; sisters, Ruth Wanta, Bernice Scutkowski and Ellen Sternberg; stepsister, Delores Schillinger; and mother- and father-in-law, Alfred and Bonnie Geske.

Alice's funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Our Savior National Catholic Church, 706 Ninth St., Mosinee. The Rev. Marion Talaga will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, May 16, at the Brainard Funeral Home-Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston, and again from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.

The family wishes to thank Mr. Fred Copa of the Brainard Funeral Home-Everest Chapel of Weston for assisting with the arrangements.
