Custer, Genevieve A. (12 Aug. 1923 - 29 Aug. 2006)

BLOOMER - Genevieve A. Custer, age 83, went to her Lord surrounded by family on Tuesday August 29, 2006, at The MapleWood in Bloomer.

She was born on August 12, 1923, in Spencer, Wis., to Nicholas and Alice (Bitter) Selzener. She married Harold Custer on April 18, 1944, at the First English Lutheran Church in Chippewa Falls. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bloomer where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She enjoyed working on the farm, singing, cooking, gardening, and especially loved spending time with her family.

Genny had a gentle nature, and was the definition of kindness, grace and faithfulness. She was a beautiful and loving person to all who were fortunate enough to have known her. She was pure class.

She is survived by her husband, Harold of Bloomer; two sons, John (Brenda) and Jim (Vonnie) Custer, both of Bloomer; four daughters, Anne (Nort) Hurt of Bloomer, Kay (Pete) Gehring of Bloomer, Janet (Rich) Helgeson of Bloomer and Anita (John) Amodt of Bloomer, two sisters, LaVerne (George) Webb of Bloomer and Ann Shipman of Chippewa Falls; 16 grandchildren, Jenny, Janelle, John, Kelly, Jackie, Tamm, Todd, Josh, Luke, Zach, Liz, Jedd, Tanya, Arnie, Kate, and Benjamin; 16 greats-grandchildren, Alec, Dylan, Olivia, Sophia, Hunter, Laken, Tavyn, Jackson, Sawyer, Lilia Genevieve, Gavin, Connor, Kaitlyn, Jameson, Ethan and Lydia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Violet Palmer and Vivian Main.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 1, 2006, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bloomer, with Pastor John Backus officiating. Interment will be in the Scandinavian Cemetery township of Woodmohr.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Olson Funeral Home in Bloomer, and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Mom, we know by faith you’ve gone on to a better place where you are completely healthy and at peace. But that knowledge does not fill the void that your passing on us has left. We love and miss you very much.
