Mellenthin, Harold W. (14 Apr. 1919 - 13 Nov. 1981)

PORTAGE - Harold W. Mellenthin, 62, Portage, died at home Friday, Nov. 13, 1981.

The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday from the Port-Axtell Funeral Home, Portage, the Rev. Thomas J. Wagner officiating. The body will be cremated.

Mellenthin was born in Spencer, Wis. on April 14, 1919, the son of Frank and Adelia (Schneider) Mellenthin. He was married to Ethelyn Ravey on Aug. 8, 1942.

He lived in Beaver Dam until 1968 when he moved to Portage where he owned and operated the Portage Sportshop. He was a member of the Portage Chamber of Commerce, Portage Downtown Business Association, Portage Lions Club, American Legion Post 47, VFW Post 1707 and Swan Lake Association. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, one son, Lynn, Madison, one daughter, Ann (Kenneth) Skidmore, Wausau; three brothers, Norman, Spencer; Donald, Huntington Beach, Cal.; Lloyd, Anderson, Ind.; one sister, Erna Singstock, Wausau; three grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Port-Axtell Funeral Home, Portage, Sunday afternoon from 2:30 until the hour of the service.
