Burger, Christine (Marriage - 31 Jan. 1948)

The wedding of Miss Christine Burger, daughter of Mrs. Joseph Burger, of Wuerzburg, and Werner Schaefer, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Werner Schaefer, of Milan, was solemnized at a nuptial high mass at 9:00 o’clock at St. John’s Catholic church at Wuerzburg, on Saturday, Jan. 31, with the Rev. Raymond Schultz officiating.

During the services Alex Ellenbecker sang “Ave Maria” by Schubert, and “O Sanctissima.”

The bride wore a gown of white ivory satin, with a long train. Her veil was finger tip length and her bouquet was an arrangement of red roses.

Attending the couple were Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Burger, Athens; Leslie Schaefer, Washington, D.C., and Miss Agnes Burger; Leonard Burger and Miss Cecelia Burger, Arnold Schaefer and Miss Blanka Schaefer.

The Misses Jancia Burger and Carmin Ellenbecker, in white satin dresses and carrying colonial bouquets were flower girls.

The matron of honor wore a frock of orchid tafetta and the bridesmaids wore identical gowns of old rose. They carried bouquets of mixed flowers.

The bride’s mother wore a brown dress and the groom’s mother was attired in a navy blue dress. They wore corsages of mixed flowers.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s mother, and dinner and supper were served to 140 guests. The house was decorated in white, orchid and rose streamers, white bells and bouquets of flowers.

Guests were present from Milwaukee, Wausau, Athens, Edgar, Knowlton, St. Cloud, Waupun and St. Paul.

A wedding dance was held in the evening at Trianon ball room.

Mr. and Mrs. Schaefer left on a wedding trip to Chicago and after their return will make their home with his parents on the farm.

Before her marriage the bride was employed at the Athens bank.
