EDGAR – Marvin E. Radue, 57, Edgar, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

Marv was born June 13, 1942, in Chili, to Martin and Myrtle (nee Zopfi) Radue. He married Virginia Rondorf Dec. 28, 1942.

Marv graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and continued taking finance and banking courses throughout his career. He proudly served as president of the bank of Edgar for 25 years before retiring in 1995. Marv’s banking efforts were always directed toward customer satisfaction and he greatly enjoyed working in a rural community. He belonged to numerous banking organizations and served as an advisor on a governor’s banking committee.

Community service was important to Marv and he was involved in many civic and charitable organizations. For many years, he was an integral part of Marathon County Housing Association, which provides low income housing. He was instrumental in improving and updating the properties.

In addition to being a banker in a farming community, Marv continued to run his own farm for many years. His love of farming was evident to all who knew him. The fall and corn harvesting were his favorite times of the year.

During his retirement, he dedicated many hours as chair of the Village of Edgar Planning Commission. Marv also enjoyed sports cars, hunting and golf and was lucky enough to have shot a hole in one.

In addition to his wife, Virginia, Marv is survived by two sons, Mark (Joan) Radue of Appleton, and Kenn (Lori) Radue of Billings, Mont.; one daughter, Lisa (George) Hoffman of Wausau; three sisters, Betty Jane (Larry) Mueller of Medford, Mary Ellen (the late Doli) Nemec of Waunakee, and Arla Mae (Lewis) Zielsdorf of Neenah; and his five cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Alyssa, Abby, Tye and Lydia.

Marv was preceded in death by his parents, one brother-in-law, one nephew, three nieces and his first grandson.

He will be deeply missed. He is deeply loved.
