Former Sandy resident Wesley “Wes” Martin Kent, 93, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, in Portland. A private burial will be at Sandy Ridge Cemetery.

Wes was born March 1, 1915, in Kankakee, Illinois, to Owen and Katherine Kent.

After graduating from high school, he entered the Civilian Conservation Corps, where he met his future wife, Alice Norton.

On Oct. 18, 1939, Wes and Alice were married at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They made their home in Wisconsin, and Wes worked as a bookkeeper.

Wes was a member of Sandy Baptist Church. He took much pride in his 1964 Studebaker, which he drove until he was in his mid-80s.

His wife preceded him in death.

Sandy Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
