John Riemer (28 Mar 1879 – 28 Mar 1954)

Dorchester – John Samuel Riemer, 75, a resident of this community for 71 years, died of a heart attack at 5:30 a.m. on his birthday, Sunday, at his home.

Mr. Riemer was born March 28, 1879, in Juda, and moved with his parents when he was 4 years old to a farm 4 ½ miles northwest of Dorchester (Little Black Twp., Taylor Co., WI). On Nov. 4, 1908, he was married here to Anna Brunner at the Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church. He was employed as a hay baler and thresh machine operator in this community. In 1936 the couple moved to the village, and he was employed here at the Genrich Implement and Garage, and also as a carpenter.

Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Albert (Merle) Winchell, Merrill and Mrs. Robert (Mildred) Larson and Mrs. William (Elda) Ludwig, Dorchester; a son, Norman Riemer, Dorchester; a brother, Edward Riemer, Medford; a sister, Mrs. Emma Whitman, Dorchester; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Two daughters, a son, a sister, and three brothers preceded him in death.

The body will repose at the Fuchsgruber Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Salem Evangelical United Brethren Church, of which he was a member. The Rev. Harold Welch will officiate and burial will take place in the Dorchester Memorial cemetery.
