Hayward, Eleanor J. (Goughnour) (18 MAR 1925 - 14 APR 2013)

Eleanor J. Hayward, 88, Abbotsford, died on Sunday, April 14 at Golden LivingCenter-Continental Manor in Abbotsford, where she had resided the past five years. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 20 at noon at Trimble Funeral Home in Moline, Ill., with Rev. Randy Pospisil officiating. Interment will be at Rock Island National Cemetery in Rock Island, Ill.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.

The former Eleanor Goughnour was born on March 18, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa, to the late Frank and Pearl (Woods) Goughnour. She attended White Oak Consolidated School in Cambridge, Iowa, and was a graduate of Des Moines Secretarial School. She worked as a secretary at Ginsberg of Des Moines.

On June 12, 1949 at Central Christian Church in Des Moines, she married Bill D. Hayward, who preceded her in death on December 18, 1997. They moved to Bettendorf, Iowa, where she worked as a secretary for Deere and Company Plow Plant in Moline. She spent most of her time as a housewife and mother while she also worked part time as a clerk at Yonkers in Bettendorf and Moline. She moved to Medford in 2005 to be close to her family.

She was a past member of Bethel Wesley Methodist Church in Moline. She enjoyed taking care of her home, family and her church activities.

Survivors include a daughter, Dawn (Jeff) Lemmenes of Medford, a sister Laura Ihrig of Omaha, Neb., and a granddaughter, Katelyn Lemmenes of Milwaukee.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Galen, Myrtle Gliem, Mary Tiffany and Lova Thornburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the family will go toward Alzheimers research.
