Schmitt, Gloria M. (1949)

Grunewald-Schmitt

Now on a wedding trip to Florida are Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Grunewald, who were married in a 2:30 o’clock ceremony Wednesday afternoon, May 11 at Christ The King Catholic Rectory with the Rev. Bernard Henry officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl J. Schmitt, Sr., and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Grunewald, Watertown.

The bridal gown was of white marquisette, styled with two tiers of Chantilly lace on either side of the skirt and extending into the long train. Chantilly lace edged the fingertip veil of illusion which was attached to a halo of fine marquisette petals. She carried a cascade bouquet of roses and spring flowers.

Mrs. Frank Binder, Marshfield, was her sister’s matron of honor, and Mrs. Harold Braasch, Watertown, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid. Acting as best man was Frank Binder, and Carl Schmitt Jr. was the other attendant of the groom.

Mrs. Binder was gowned in lavender marquisette, styled with a bustle and deep ruffles at the yoke and hem. She wore a halo headpiece similar to that of the bride and carried a colonial bouquet of spring flowers. Mrs. Baasch was attired in a pink gown, fashioned with a lace bodice, cap sleeves, peplum and a full marquisette skirt. Her Halo headpiece was similar to that of the matron of honor.

Supper for immediate relatives was served at 6 p.m. at Slim’s Steak House and a reception and dance was held at the Municipal Hall that evening.

Mrs. Grunewald is a graduate of the Spencer High School and Mr. Grunewald of Watertown High School. He is manager of the Gateway Lumber Company, here and the bride has been employed at the office of the Gateway Lumber Company for the past year.

Out-of-town guests at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Grunewald and Mrs. Arnold Baasch and sons Donny and Eddie, Watertown; Mr. and Mrs. William Grunewald, Nekoosa; and Lloyd Schuld and N. L. Anderson, Madison. Relatives from Marshfield, Wisconsin Rapids, Stevens Point and Spencer also attended.

The Record joins their many local friends in extending congratulations and best wishes for a long and happy wedded life.
