Pagenkopf, Elsa (2 May 1890 - 9 May 1969)

Funeral services for Mrs. Herman (Elsa) Pagenkopf, 79, who died Friday morning, were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiating.

Mrs. Pagenkopf, the former Elsa Schroeder, was born May 2, 1890, to Karl and Christiane (Heizberg) Schroeder, in Chicago, Ill., where she received her education. She came to Clark County with her parents and they located on a farm in the Town of Levis. On December 12, 1911, she was married to Herman Pagenkopf at Neillsville. They farmed in the Grant until 1942, when they retired. In 1948 they moved into the city. Mr. Pagenkopf died in 1958. Mrs. Pagenkopf had been a resident of Memorial Home since the first of this year. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Survivors are a son, Victor Pagenkopf of Platteville; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Helen) Acheson of Neillsville; a brother, Charles Schroeder of Neillsville, and four grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Ray Kutsche, J. Carleton Jones, Fred Subke, Harold Ottow, Roy Stanley and Edward Stelloh. Robert Mitte sang, “I’m But a Stranger Here” and “Take Thou My Hand and Lead Me.” He was accompanied by Victor Lehmann.

Those present from out-of-town included: Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schmidt, and Alf Schroeder, of Oshkosh; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Pagenkopf and children, Susan and Gary, of Platteville; Miss Myra Junchen of Menasha; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Junchen of Sherrard, Ill., and Mrs. Lee Corey of Greenwood.
