West, Russell "Russ" R. (30 MAR 1934 - 27 APR 2013)

Russell "Russ" R. West, 79, Medford, died on Saturday, April 27 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where he had been a patient for one day.

Funeral services will held on Tuesday, April 30 at 2 p.m. at Hemer Funeral Home in Medford, with Father Gerard Willger officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Ogema. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.

Russell West was born on March 30, 1934 in Eagle River to the late John Paul and Cecilia (Marco) West. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School in Chicago, Ill.

On June 28, 1952 in Chicago, he married Rose M. Bartucci, who preceded him in death on January 1, 1994. On July 10, 2000 in Prentice, he married Patricia Andres Wiemer, who survives.

He owned and operated a towing business in Arlington Heights, Ill., and was a partner with his brother, Donald, in a service station in Lake Zurich, Ill. He worked as a custodian for several high schools in Illinois. In 1971, he moved to Ogema where they owned and operated Rosie's Second Hand Barn and Russ's Tire Repair, then in 1994 he moved to Medford where he worked as a custodian at K-mart until his retirement.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford. He enjoyed woodworking, collecting model antique cars, word search puzzles and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Patricia, survivors include six children, Larry (Marilyn) of Malta, Ill., Janet (Jerry) Magliano of Chapmansboro, Tenn., Patrick (Robin) of Wausau, Brenda West of Medford, and Virginia (Bob) Luedtke and Viola (Alvin) Helland, both of Denmark; a step-daughter, Debra Miller of Medford; two brothers, Robert (Betty) of Lombard, Ill., and Virgil (Sandy) of Bloomingdale, Ill.; 18 grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa West in 1975; two step-sons, David and Him Wiener; six brothers; and one sister.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial be given to Holy Rosary Church and School of Medford.
