Medicke, Josephine (13 March 1914 - 31 May 2013)

Josephine Medicke, 99, of Neillsville died Friday, May 31, 2013, at the Neillsville Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Josephine Medicke was born in Milwaukee, March 13, 1914. She was adopted by Herman and Ida Kohls nine months later. She grew up on a farm in the Curtiss area and graduated from Owen High School. She earned a teaching certificate from Stevens Point State Teachers College and went on to teach at various country schools, including Willard, Christie and Sherwood.

She was united in marriage to Warren Medicke Aug. 22, 1938, and they farmed in the Christie area until 1950 when they moved to Neillsville. She was employed at Auto Test until 1953 when they started Medicke Plumbing. She was the bookkeeper for the business until she retired in 1981. Warren died in 1989.

Josephine is survived by a son, Richard (Minerva) Medicke of Banning, CA; and a sister, Rachel Dornbrook of Fond du Lac.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and two brothers, George and Kenneth.

A graveside service will be held for Josephine at 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 28, at the Neillsville City Cemetery. Pastor Douglas Bjerke will officiate.
