Kalsow, Mary F. (6 November 1883 - 10 December 1969)

Mary F. Kalsow, 86, of Memorial Home, died here December 10. Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiating. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Kalsow was born in Germany November 6, 1883, to Herman and Augusta (Scheel) Hoffman. At the age of nine she came to the United States with her parents who located on a farm in Globe. She received her education here. On October 16, 1901, she was married in Neillsville to Albert Kalsow, who died in 1961. They lived for five years in Milwaukee, where Mr. Kalsow was employed as a carpenter. In 1933 they returned to Neillsville, where they spent the remainder of their lives.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Fala Gloff of Marshfield, Mrs. Edwin (Leona) Sternitzky of Rt. 1 Granton, and Mrs. Walter (Evelyn) Grottke of Rt. 3 Neillsville; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid Society.

Pallbearers were: Donald Nickel, Ronald Kalsow, Gary Sternitzky, Allen Sternitzky, Marvin Schlinsog and William Hoffman. “Asleep in Jesus” and “The Lord is my Shepherd” were sung by Kendall Smith, accompanied on the organ by Victor Lehmann.

Those from out of town attending included: Mrs. Fala Gloff, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Grottke, Miss Carol Gloff, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Sternitzky and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Schlinsog and sons of Marshfield; Gary Sternitzky of Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Nickel and family for Nekoosa; Mrs. Patey Fischer of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Faune Durni of Merrillan; Ronald V. Kalsow and Mrs. Mildred Kalsow of Menomonee Falls and many from the Granton area.
