Willard (17 June 1971)

The Willard 4-H Club held their monthly meeting last week at the parish center. Carol Govek, president, conducted the meeting. A discussion on June, Dairy Month, was held. Last Saturday club members disturbed free cheese samples in the Willard stores. The cheese was donated by the North Hendren Cooperative Dairy Company of Willard and Stewart’s Redville Dairy of Greenwood. The meeting adjourned at 8:35 p.m.

Miss Donna Marie Gosar left Monday for Melled in Columbia. She boarded a plane in St. Paul, Minn. She was taken there by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Gosar.

Mrs. Dora Fortuna has returned after two weeks with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Gradisher and family in Westchester, Ill.

Mr. and Mrs. Valentine St. John of Neillsville spent last Saturday afternoon at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Tolaney, Jr., and family.

Dinner guests last Tuesday of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Murphy at Marathon were Mr. and Mrs. John Verschay.

About 14 boys of the FFA class fished at Ely, Minn., last week; from the Willard area were William Govek, Dennis Horvat and Mike Rakovec.

The Slovenian Ladies union held their picnic last Sunday afternoon at the Willard shelter. Husbands and children also attended. A potluck lunch was served along with ham, wieners, buns and pop.

Mr. and Mrs. Vitko Staut of La Crosse spent the weekend with relatives here and attended the Sue Christopherson-Jack Volovsek wedding last Saturday.

Pvt. Duane Pozega went to Eau Claire last Sunday where he boarded a plane and left for Fort Knox, Ky.
