Herrick, Mr.//Mrs. Jack Sr. (Gold – JUL 1952)

The Golden Wedding Anniversary was celebrated by Mr. and Mrs. Jack Herrick Sr., one of the oldest families in Willard (Clark Co., Wis.), at a family reunion and open house held in their honor at the Herrick farm during the July 4th weekend.

Members of the Herrick family and other friends travelled from as far as California and from Illinois, Minnesota, Ohio and throughout Wisconsin to be on hand for the three day event.

Highlight of the celebration was the presentation of a cedar chest and gold watch to Mr. and Mrs. Herrick by their 13 children; 10 silver dollars by their 19 grandchildren, and a et of gold and multi-colored tumblers by their two great-grandchildren.

Over 100 neighbors and friends joined the family in well-wishing at an open house program Saturday evening, July 5th. Among the guests was Mrs. Mary Yartz of Greenwood, who served Mr. and Mrs. Herrick as bridesmaid at their wedding in Kansas 50 years ago. A three-tiered wedding cake decorated with gold leaves and bearing the numeral “50”, which was placed in the center of the dinner table, was baked by Mrs. Jack Herrick Jr. of Stillwater, Minn. It was surrounded by 50 yellow roses.

Members of the family who attended the reunion included: M-Sgt. and Mrs. David L. Hallowell (Eva Herrick) of Fallbrook, Calif.; Mrs. Andrew Petkovsek, (Anna Herrick), grandchildren Don and Marian Petkovsek and Mr. and Mrs. L.W. Farrow; and great-grandchildren Mardee Ann and Tom Farrow, who composed the fourth Herrick generation, all of Peoria, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Herrick Jr. and grandchildren, Jane carol and Jack of Stillwater, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Smith (Donna Herrick) and grandchildren Sherry and Sandra of St. Paul, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Dean Murphy (Frances Herrick) and grandson Robert of Orion, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Florian Herrick and granddaughters Donna and Patricia of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Herrick and grandsons Jeffrey and James of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hawley (Lucille Herrick) and grandsons Tom, Edward, and Brian of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Cletus Susa (JoAnn Herrick) and granddaughter, Gail of Greenwood; Robert Herrick of Willard; Mrs. Anna Zuhar, Mrs. Herrick’s niece, accompanied by her husband, George, and niece, Frances, of Crosby, Minn.; and Mr. and Mrs. Everett Beaudoin (Viola Zauhar) and their daughter Chloe of Milwaukee.

Congratulations were sent by Mr. and Mrs. Herrick’s sons, Joe, stationed with the U.S. Army in Newfoundland, and Edward with the army in Oklahoma; and her daughter, Mary, of Hollywood, Calif.
