Thomas, Janice Marie (Marriage - 31 July 1971)

The Free Methodist Church at Loyal was the scene Saturday, July 31, at 2 p.m. of the marriage of Miss Janice Marie Thomas and Roger Earl Cleeton, Minneapolis, Minn. The Rev. George Hollingshead of Badger Community Church, Waupaca officiated at the double ring ceremony which united the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph L. Thomas, Rt. 1 Loyal, and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Cleeton, Rt. 5, Morris, Ill.

Approximately 200 guests gathered for the occasion in a church decorated with altar baskets of daisies, gladioli and pompon mums.

The bride carried a bouquet of white daisies with yellow pompons and purple statis as she was given in marriage by her father. The Chantilly lace bodice of her gown was fashioned with a high neckline and long, gathered sleeves. The bouffant skirt of crystalline featured a redingote front which revealed a panel of lace tiers. A detachable chapel-sweep train crystalline and lace completed the gown. A bouffant veil was held by a crystal-trimmed pearl crown.

Linda L. Thomas was her sister’s maid-of-honor. Bridesmaids were Donna Pasch, Spencer, and Patsy Ann Pasch, Lake Delton, both sisters of the bride and Judy Cleeton, Morris, Ill., sister of the groom. The bridal attendants’ gowns were styled with white georgette, self-ruffle trimmed bodices featuring bishop sleeves and self-ruffle necklines, separated from the gathered maize skirts by a waistline banding of venise lace floral trim. They carried baskets of white and yellow daisies.

Terry Cleeton, Morris, Ill., served his brother, as bestman. Groomsmen were David Cleeton, Morris, Ill., also the groom’s brother, and Donald Pasch, Spencer, and Ronald Pasch, Lake Delton, brothers-in-law of the bride. Peter Lindren, Stevens Point, and William Finch, Verona, Ill., served as ushers.

Organ music was played by James Miller. Soloists Reginald Langdon, Minneapolis, Minn., and Carmon Thomas, Milwaukee, sang “Oh Promise Me” and “The Lord’s Prayer,” respectively.

A reception at the home of the bride was followed by a dinner served in the fellowship hall of the Loyal United Methodist Church.

The newlyweds will make their home at the Sunshine Bible Academy, Miller, S. D., following a wedding trip to northern Minnesota.

The bride attended Stevens Point State University and is presently a senior at St. Paul Bible College. The groom is a graduate of Bethany Missionary Fellowship in Minneapolis, Minn. Both are missionaries.
