Gardner, Peggy (12 April 1949 – 17 May 1967)

Peggy Jo Gardner, 18, route 1, Greenwood, died at 11:30 a.m., at her home, Wednesday, May 17. She had been in poor health the past two years.

Services were held at 8 p.m. Friday, May 19, at the Loyal Methodist Church, with the Rev. Leland Shaw, Loyal and the Rev. Paul Doering, Ladysmith officiating. Burial was made in the Loyal cemetery. The Myre Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Miss Gardner was born April 12, 1949 at Marshfield. She was a senior student at Loyal High School and would have graduated this May 25th. Winner of the D.A.R. Award several months ago; editor of the school; yearbook, the “Loyalite”; member of the high school band; runner-up for Miss Rural Electrification in 1966 and Corn Festival Queen Candidate in 1964. She was a member of the Loyal Methodist Church.

William Chambers accompanied by the organ by Mrs. Paul Dekker, sang “Face to Face” and “The Lord’s Prayer.

Pall bearers were Raymond, John, and Robert Gardner, Michael Tucker and Douglas and Richard Lindgren.

She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Gardner, Greenwood; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Tucker, and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernst Hinkelman. Loyal; two brothers, Roddy and gary; and two sisters, Wendy and Kathy allat home.

Friends and relatives from away attending the funeral were: Dr. and Mrs. Gene Wegner, and Mr. and Mrs. Stan Dulin and Jeff, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Martin, Milwaukee; Mrs. Helen Welsh, Fond du Lac; Mr. and Mrs. Ernst Zuege and Mr. and Mrs. Nyle Haertel, Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Bickler, Scott, Suzanne and Billy, Mr. John Richarderson and Mr/ Claude Detjens, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Dayton, Merrill; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Herdrich, Eau Claire.

Mr. and Mrs. Emil Duetschlandfer, Thorp; Mr. and Mrs. James Zuege, Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Sommer, Curtiss, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Cook, Marathon; Rev. and Mrs. Paul Doering and Malcom, Ladysmith; and many friends and relatives in the Greenwood and Loyal area. The senior class of Loyal High School attended in a group.
