Brown, Laura (10 MAY 1853 – 11 Jun 1916)

Mrs. Laura Brown died Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Williams, near Granton. Mrs. Brown had been in failing health for some months, but had been a patient sufferer throughout. She was born Laura Emma Dutton to George and Minerva Dutton at Wellesville, New York, on May 10, 1853. She came to Neillsville with her parents in 1869 and on Sept. 17, 1872, was united in marriage to Albert Brown. To this union one daughter was born, Mrs. H.E. Williams, who survives her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Brown lived here until 1877, when they moved to Caranahoe, Neb., where he died in 1879. Mrs. Brown returned here and was united in marriage to Lemont Brown on September 14, 1888, and on Nov. 19, 1903, Mrs. Brown was again a widow. Since Mr. Brown’s death she has made her home here with the exception of the short time she had been with her daughter.

Mrs. Brown was a member of the Congregational Church in which she was an earnest worker. She was a good woman in every particular and she lived a capable and conscientious life and one which endeared her in the hearts of all with whom she came in contact. She was laid to rest on Tuesday afternoon, services being conducted by Rev. Longenecker at the home. Deceased is survived by her daughter; two grandsons, Douglas Dutton MacBride and Lemont Leslie MacBride, two brothers, Wilbur and John Dutton of Springfield, Mo., and two sisters, Mrs. E.A. West of Kenmare, N.D., and Mrs. Jane Grey of Everett, Wash.
