Suda, Anthony V. (24 SEP 1938 - 7 JAN 2014)

Anthony V. Suda (Tony/Sonny), of Owen, WI, passed away on January 7, 2014 at his home at the age of 75 with his family at his side and under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice. He was born September 24, 1938 to Anna and Anthony Suda Sr. in the Greenwood area.

A memorial service will be held at 11AM on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Holy Rosary Catholic church in Owen, WI. Rev. Charles Hiebl will officiate. Family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 10AM until the time of service at the church. Military honors will be conducted at the church with a meal to follow. A private committal service will be held at a later date at the Greenwood Cemetery.

Tony was schooled in Greenwood, both public and parochial. He farmed with his brother John until joining the U.S. Army in 1957. Upon his return home in 1960, he began farming northwest of Greenwood. He married Genevieve Kurtinitis from Thorp and together had three children, Tony, Teresa, and Angela. They divorced in 1978. Tony re-married in 1992 to Roseanne Bores of Unity. Tony farmed in the Greenwood area, owned a hotel in Amery and Ontonagon, MI and a tavern in Humbird. He then achieved his overall dream of being an over-the-road truck driver both full time and part time for local companies like WeatherShield and Gardner Trucking. Before he left the trucking industry he had achieved 2 million safe miles. In 1991 he moved to the Withee area to raise veal calves and assisted many people doing light carpentry work and painting houses under the name Handy Man Tony. In 2005 he moved to Owen where he continued to do carpentry work and also worked as a maintenance manager for the Maple Manor & Sunshine Apartments.

Tony had a unique personality and was always happy wherever he was at that particular time. Many people knew him by the funny hat that he always wore. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, trapping, playing dirty clubs, and visiting with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends that he has met and known over the years. Tony is survived by his wife Roseanne, his son Tony C. Suda of Granton, his daughters Teresa Tieman of Willard and Angela Rankl Suda of North Branch, MN, as well as six grandchildren (Craig, Randi, Kasey, Alexis, Trent, and Carsen) and two great-grandchildren (Allen and Graci).

Tony is preceded in death by his parents Anthony Sr. and Anna Suda, his brother Stanley Suda, his stepson Clayton Bores, and his daughter-in-law Cindy Suda.
