Varney, Ralph L. (30 JAN 1877 – 16 JAN 1949)

Mrs. George Einfeldt received word of the death of her uncle, Ralph L. Varney, Couer d’ Alene, Idaho, Sunday January 16.  Mr. Varney, son of Hiram and Cynthia Varney, was a brother of Charles Varney, deceased.

Ralph Varney grew to manhood on the Varney farm on the West Side, attended Gale College, taught in rural schools hereabouts, went into a freight adjustment business in Fond du Lac, later to Oshkosh, thence to great Falls, Montana, and of late in Couer d’ Alene.

He suffered a broken hip a couple of years ago from which he had not fully recovered.  Then a stroke culminated in his death.  He leaves his wife, (Henrietta); the twin sons (Harold & Howard) and their wives, three sisters, Miss Edith Varney, Denver, Colo., Mrs. Louisa Warner, Deeth, Nev.; and Mrs. Chester Huffnire (Maude) Cheyenne, Wyo.  His father and mother, three brothers, one sister and a son (Kenneth) preceded him in death.

(Birth/death dates obtained from Idaho Death Index; names of wife and sons obtained from census records.)
