United Church of Christ (Christmas Program - 19 December 1971)

The senior choir and Sunday school departments of the Neillsville United Church of Christ will unite to present “Signs and Symbols of Christmas” at the Sunday, December 19, 10:30 a.m. worship service. It is hoped that this new approach to a Christmas service will make the Christmas season more meaningful.

The program will be presented in three parts. Part I will be an explanation of the symbolism of the Christmas tree and lights by youngsters in grade three through six. Nursery-age through second grade children will tell of the manger and the stable in part II. In Part III, the story of the angels and the star will be presented by junior high schoolers.

Two trees will be used; one to represent man’s sin and the other, man’s salvation.

Following the program, there will be a fellowship potluck in the church dining hall.

The senior choir will sing under the direction of Mrs. Robert Peters. Mrs. Jess Scott is the accompanist.

Members of the church school staff helping with the program include, in the primary department, Mrs. Carol Mortenson, Cheryl Harder, Mrs. Mary Ellen Jacoby, Nancy Roberts, Mrs. Charlotte Hediger, Cindy Filitz, Miss Stella Davis, Linda Karl and Lori Opelt, pianist; and in the junior department, Mrs. Emilie Albrecht, Mrs. Ann Filitz, Mrs. Betty Free, Mrs. Helen Filitz and Mrs. Vicki Grap.

The church school is supervised by Mrs. Beulah Zoutendam. Wayne Zoutendam is the worship leader and Mrs. Irma Stucki, the general secretary. Staff assistants are Mark Vornholt and David Zoutendam.
