James J. Pecher, 71, of Wisconsin Rapids, died at his home on Thursday, January 23, 2014.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at the Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home in Pittsville.

Burial will be later in the Town of Richfield Cemetery, Marshfield.

Family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until time of services at the Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home.

James J. Pecher, 71 of Wisconsin Rapids died at his home on Thursday, January 23, 2014. Memorial services will be 11am Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at the Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home in Pittsville. Burial will be later in the Town of Richfield Cemetery, Marshfield.

James was born in Marshfield on September 16, 1942 to Arthur and Gladys (Tessmer) Pecher. He was united in marriage on August 13, 1966 in Cicero, IL to Kathleen V. Krahulec.

James spent his early years in Athens WI, and enjoyed growing up on a farm with his three brothers and sister. After his service in the Navy, he resided in Berwyn Ill. where he meet his wife Kathleen and started a family, retuning to Wisconsin with his family in 1976. James was employed as an Ironworker in Chicago Ill., Roehl Trucking, Green Bay and Western Rail Road then Canadian National Rail Road in WI until his retirement.

He enjoyed socializing with family and friends, both new and old, and loved telling nostalgic stories of his past, his children and adventures including his beloved black and white 57 Chevy. James was described by many to have a heart of gold and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen, children Jamie (Brian) Bailey of Campbellsport, Susan (Kevin Kropidlowski) Pecher of Stevens Point, James (Lacie Orheim) Pecher of Wisconsin Rapids, 4 grandchildren, Kristen Pecher, her son Owen Kronberger, Nathaniel Kropidlowski, Christopher Christiansen, Megan Christiansen, and Lilli Pecher. He is further survived by two brothers Gilbert (Bev) Pecher of Wisconsin Rapids and Roger (Karen) Pecher of Vesper and one sister Margaret Billman of Wisconsin Rapids.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Mary Christiansen, a brother Gordon Pecher and stepfather William Degner.
