Backaus, Lisbeth Ann (1 September 1984)

Lisbeth Ann Backus and John Glynn Blake were untied in marriage on Saturday afternoon, September 1, by the Rev. Joseph Henseler. St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville served as the site for the rites.

Parents of the couple are Richard and Nancy Backaus, 1200 E. Second St., Neillsville, and Carroll and Georgiana Black, Rochester, Michigan.

Offering music for the service was Ronnie Resong, Jaynee Backaus and Marcie Barlow.

Serving as maid of honor was Laura Backaus, Neillsville. The bestman was David Blake of Dallas, Texas. Ushering were Rick Berns, Doug Pocock and Paul Blake.

The bride chose a satin gown with a lace embroidered yoke and chapel-length train. Her fingertip-length veil fell from a wreath of roses in her hair. She carried a cascade of white orchids, stephanotis and ivy. Her attendant was attired in a burgundy gown and carried a white rose.

Following the service a reception was held at Fannie’s Supper Club. The couple announced that they would take a wedding trip to Big Bay, Michigan.

The new Mrs. Blake is an April 1984 graduate of Northern Michigan University at Marquette. He is a senior at the same school. The couple will make their home at Marquette.

Klinke, Judy Ann (20 July 1984)

Rural Greenwood is the new home for Mr. and Mrs. David Hinker. The couple, David Hinker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Hinker, Rt. 3 Greenwood, and Judy Ann Klinke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Klinke, Rt. 1 Greenwood, were married on July 20. The Rev. Michael Merten’s officiated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Greenwood.

The wedding service feathered music by Laura Larson, Greenwood.

Matron of honor was Diane Olson, the bride’s sister of Greenwood. Bridesmaids were Janel Kirn, a friend of Greenwood; Sue Pakiz, the bride’s sister of Greenwood; and Sandy Krapf, a friend from Stevens Point.

James Wildish, a Greenwood friend, was the bestman. He was joined by Randy and Dean Hinker, brothers of the groom of Greenwood; and Mark Toburen, a friend from Stevens Point. Gary Olson, the bride’s brother-in-law, and Dennis Carteron, a friend, were ushers; both were from Greenwood.

The bride’s sisters, Sue Pakiz and Mary Olson made the wedding cake and wedding dress, respectively.

The bride’s gown featured a satin lace yoke, bouffant sleeves and long train with etched lace ruffles. She carried a bouquet of pink roses, baby’s breath, lily of the valley and forget-me-nots. Her matron of honor wore a white dotted-Swiss gown etched in pink ribbon and adorned with Victorian-style ruffles.

Her other attendants wore similar gowns to the matron of honor only in pink. They carried assorted nose gays in pink and lavender. The groom was attired in white tuxedo and his attendants were attired in gray tuxedos.

Following the service, a reception, supper and dance was held at the Loyal American Legion Hall.

The new Mrs. Hinker is a 1983 graduate of Greenwood High School and this year from District I Tech-Eau Claire. Her husband is a 1982 graduate of the same high school and in 1983 from District I Tech. he is employed by Harry Kirch Ford, Neillsville.

Opelt, Julie Ann (3 August 1984)

The Rev. Michael Mertens officiated at the August 3 wedding of Julie Ann Opelt and William Dean Hinker. St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood was the site for the sharing of vows. Parents of the bride ae Mr. and Mrs. Don Opelt, Rt. Greenwood. The groom’s parents are Barbara Hinker of Greenwood and the late Sylvester Hinker.

Music at the service was offered by Mary Jo Gregorich, John Schultz and Shelli Hinker.

Serving as mid of honor was Pam Kunkel, a friend of the brie from Thorp. She was joined by Diane Susa, a friend from Greenwood; Kris Opelt, the bride’s sister of Greenwood’; and Collette David, a friend from Marshfield.

Bestman was Dick Haase, a friend from Loyal. Completing the groom’s party were friend Mike Sladich, the bride’s brother Joe Opelt and friend Bernie Friske; all are from Greenwood. Ushering were Robert Hinker, the groom’s brother, and Wes Stieglitz, the bride’s brother-in-law, both are of Greenwood.

The bride chose a Queen Anne-styled gown of sheer organza and Chantilly lace with seed pearls. The gown swept to a multi-ruffled chapel-length train. Her hat was adorned by matching lace and seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of white roses, white spider mums and greens. Her attendants wore sheer, green Dacron print gowns with drop shoulders and flounced hemlines. They carried yellow carnations, white daisies and greens and had hair pieces of matching flowers. The groom was attired in an ivory tuxedo and his attendants wore light brown tuxedos.

The Loyal American Legion Hall was the site for the post wedding gala. The couple announced a honeymoon to Northern Wisconsin.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Hinker will make their home at rural Greenwood. She is a graduate of Mid-State Tech’s operating room assistant program. He attended Greenwood Schools and is a farmer.

Pernsteiner, Sue (18 August 1984)

Sue Pernsteiner and Phillip Backaus were united in marriage at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville on Saturday afternoon, August 18. The Rev. Joseph Henseler officiated.

Parents of the bride are Joe Pernsteiner III, Rt. 1 Granton, and the late Betty Pernsteiner; and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Backaus, 1200 East Second St., Neillsville.

Attending the bride was maid of honor Shelly Pernsteiner, the bride’s sister of Granton; Lolly Backaus, the groom’s sister of Neillsville; Louann Traxel, a friend from Marshfield; and Susan Moede, a friend from Chili.

Blaine Anding, a friend from Neillsville, was bestman. He was joined by Eric Backaus, the groom’s brother of Neillsville; Jeff Brumm, a friend from Chicago; and Mike Toelle and Pete Heineck, both friends from Neillsville. Ushering ware Dennis Rose and Dan Backaus, both Marshfield cousins of the honored couple.

Miniature bride was Maryjo Wheeler, the bride’s cousin of Marshfield. Miniature groom was Joe Backaus, the groom’s brother of Neillsville.

The bride chose a Victorian-style gown with high neckline and Schiffli embroidered yoke, fitted bodice with Basque waistline, ruffled trim and chapel-length train. She wore a lace-covered and streamered picture hat. She carried a silk arrangement of pink and white roses and greenery. Her attendants wore pink off-the-shoulder gowns that were trimmed in lace and featured V-shaped sheer yokes, close fitting bodice and full skirt. They carried matching nose gays.

Following the service, a reception was held at the Neillsville Country Club.

The new Mrs. Backaus is a 1982 graduate of Granton High School and is employed by Wheeler Chevrolet of Marshfield. Her husband, a 1982 graduate of Neillsville High School, is employed by Tesmer Construction Corporation of Neillsville.

Rychnovsky, Lori (25 August 1984)

Lori Rychnovsky and Kent Harriman were married on Saturday afternoon August 25, in Eau Claire’s Wesleyan United Methodist Church by the Rev. Robert Murphy. Parents of the couple are Ed and Ruth Rychnovsky, 209 Clay St., Neillsville, and Robert and Audrey Harriman of Eau Claire.

Kris Vine, a friend of the bride from La Crosse was maid of honor. She was joined by Nancy Newton, a friend from Rochester, Minnesota; Linda Johnson, the groom’s sister of Eau Claire and Sandy Schwartz, a friend from Eau Claire.

Bestman was Brad Hanewall of Eau Claire. Groomsmen were Bob Quast of Fall Creek and Tony Lahner and Jim Schwartz, both of Eau Claire. All are friends of the groom. Ushering were Scott Rychnovsky, the bride’s brother of Fall River, and Layne Froehlich, a friend from Eau Claire.

Miniature bride was Andrea Rychnovsky, the bride’s niece of Fall River. Miniature groom was Tyler Clark, the groom’s nephew of Eau Claire.

The bride wore an organza gown trimmed in lustrous satin at the top of the renaissance sleeve and the hemline, which flowed into a chapel-length train. Lace accented the pearled bodice and sleeves. She chose a matching picture hat that was trimmed with a silk illusion veil. She carried a cascade of pink roses, white carnations, baby’s breath and ivy. Her attendants wore wine-hued taffeta gowns with deep off-the-shoulder bodice ruffles, puffed sleeves, dropped waists and baby-doll style bows in the back. They carried single pink roses adorned with baby’s breath and greens. The groom and his attendants were attired in silver Ashley-style tailed tuxedos.

A reception and dance was held at Fanny Hill Supper Club in Eau Claire. The couple announced wedding trip plans for the Black Hills.

The new Mrs. Harriman is a graduate of Neillsville High School and is now a medical lab technician for Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. Her husband has a bachelor’s degree in distributive education and marketing.

Carol Anderegg, a friend from Loyal, was the maid of honor. She was joined by Sandy Faber, the bride’s niece of Marshfield; Kim Fulwiler, a friend from Loyal; Linda Weber, a friend from Rozeville; and Rose Rueth, a friend from Loyal.

Bestman was Jeff Handt, a friend from Neillsville. He was joined by Mark Lindekugel, the groom’s cousin of Oshkosh; Adrian Alleshaski, a friend from Marshfield; Terry Strey, the bride’s brother of Saukville; and Jerry Cords, a friend from Cleveland, Ohio. Ushering were Duane Strey, the bride’s brother of Granton, and Brian Dahl, the groom’s cousin of Stetsonville.

The bride chose a laced gown featuring a Queen Anne collar and hoop skirt. She carried a bouquet of violets, white roses, daisies and baby’s breath. Her attendants wore gowns in violet, pink, lime, blue and apricot and they carried flowers similar to those of the bride’s. The groom was attired in a white tuxedo and his attendants wore gray tuxedos.

Following the service, a reception was held at the Loyal American Legion Hall. The couple announced wedding trip plans for Great America and the Milwaukee area.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Dahl will make their home at rural Granton. She is a 1984 graduate of Loyal High School and is employed by the Neillsville A&W. Her husband is a 1979 graduate of Granton High School and is an assistant foreman for Nelson Muffler at Neillsville.

Wilcox, Brenda (11 August 1984)

Brenda Wilcox and Doug Foster, both of Milwaukee, were united in marriage on Saturday afternoon, August 11, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Neillsville. The Rev. Paul Forde officiated. Parents of the bride are Glendon and Joyce Wilcox, 522 West Fourth St., Neillsville. The groom’s mother is Lila Gilbert, Milwaukee.

Cindy Slowiak of Minneapolis, accompanied by Kris Herbrand of Neillsville, offered music for the exchange of vows.

Marcia Gross of Neillsville was matron of honor. She was joined by Michelle Wilcox of Neillsville and Diana Foster of Milwaukee. Bestman was Connan Foster, Milwaukee. He was joined by Dennis Wilcox of Chippewa Falls and Kurt Cattanach of Milwaukee. Ushering were Jerry Gross of Neillsville and Thomas Glasco of Milwaukee.

Also aiding at the wedding were Lori Wilcox of Chippewa Falls, who handled the guestbook; Lisa Balciar of Medford, who handled the programs; and Jen Wells of Medford, who created the wedding cake.

The bride chose a floor-length, ivory, Victorian-style gown with Chantilly lace accenting the sleeves, bodice and neckline. Her lace-covered hat had an upturned brim and supported a blush veil. She carried a bouquet of roses and baby’s breath. Her attendants wore tea-length gowns in antique peach with Chantilly lace ornamenting the bodice and hemline. Their hats were similar to the bride’s, but only in antique peach hues.

They carried nose gays of miniature carnations and baby’s breath. The groom and his attendants were attired in brown Lexington-style tuxedos.

Following the service, a reception was held at Fannie’s Supper Club, Neillsville. The couple announced wedding trip plans to Niagara Falls.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Foster will make their home in Milwaukee. She is a 1976 graduate of Neillsville High School and in 1981 from UW-Eau Claire in nursing. She is employed by the Wood-VA Center, Milwaukee. Her husband has a master’s degree in social work and is employed by the Milwaukee Public Schools.

Prenuptial events included a shower hosted by Marcia Gross of Neillsville and a shower by nursing colleagues in Milwaukee.

Zilk, Carla Jane (1 September 1984)

Carla Jane Zilk and Tim Alan Voigt were united in marriage on Saturday morning, September 1, by the Rev. Joseph Henseler at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Glen Zilk, 109 W. 18th St., Neillsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Al Voigt, 800 E. Second St., Neillsville.

Matron of honor was Mrs. Kevin Stitt of Neillsville. She was joined by Mrs. Tim Shubert of Cocoa, Florida, Lynn Cory of Tucson, Arizona, and Mrs. Gary Foster of Neillsville. Bestman was Brad Zimmerman of Neillsville. He was joined by William Zilk of Neillsville, Curt Cattanach of Milwaukee and Gary Foster of Neillsville. Ushering were Dan Smith of Galesburg, Illinois, and Korey Schillinger and Rick Lavene, both of Neillsville.

The bride chose her mother’s wedding dress, which was of ivory slipper-satin. She wore an ivory pearled headpiece and carried a bouquet of ivory-hued lilies. Her attendants wore red satin gowns with black picture-style hats and matching gloves. They sported gem-colored wristlet bouquets.

Following the service, a reception, dinner and dance was held at the Neillsville Country Club. The couple announced wedding trip plans to Northern Michigan.

The new Mrs. Voigt is a 1976 graduate of Neillsville High School and is employed at the clinic of Dr. Cahit Ozturk, Neillsville. Her husband is also a 1976 graduate of the same school and earned an associate degree in marketing from District I Tech-Eau Claire. He is a salesman for Surge of Loyal.

The couple will make their home in Neillsville.
