Volz, Velmer Viola (30 May 1894 - 18 February 1972)

Funeral services for Mrs. Robert (Velmer Viola) Volz, age 77, of Memorial Home, who died February 18, were held Monday, February 21, at 1:30 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home. The Rev. Melvin Nickel of the United Methodist Church officiated and burial was, made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Volz, the daughter of Howard and Lottie (Gould) Linton, was born May 30, 1894, in Grant County and was educated there. Her marriage to Robert E. Volz took place October 2, 1913, at Baraboo. The couple moved to a farm in the Town of Washburn that year, and farmed over 41 years. They moved to outside Pittsville in 1954 and to Wisconsin Rapids in 1955. Mr Volz died on October 13, 1967. Mrs. Volz entered Memorial Home in 1970.

Survivors include 11 children: George Volz of Wisconsin Rapids, Mrs. John (Marcella) Adams, of Richmond, Ca, Mrs. William Kopp of Cambridge, Harry Volz of Wisconsin Rapids, Lester Volz of Black River Falls, Gerald Volz of City Point, Wilbur Volz of Orland, Ca, Willis Volz of Neillsville, Mrs. Stanley (Delores) Rosenthal of Wisconsin Rapids, Raymond Volz of North Prairie and Mrs. Roger (Iva) Northup of Mundelein, Il. Twenty-four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.

Pallbearers were Clarence Reinart, Oliver Williams, Bernard Kuhn, Sanford Dehart, Dave Krutsch and Walter Trachte. Ellis Wall sang “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” and “Beyond the Sunset” accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

Those from out of town who attended the services included Mr. and Mrs. William Kopp of Cambridge, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Volz of City Point, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Volz of North Prairie, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Northup and Laurie and David Northup of Mundelein, Il., Mr. and Mrs. William Kufahl and family of Deerfield, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Johnson and sons of Madison, Mr and Mrs. Fred Volz and Charles Volz of Lodi, Mrs. Edith Meyer of Eau Claire, Dan Gilmon, Mr. and Mrs. George Volz, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Volz, Terry, Randy, Vickie, and Nancy and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Rosenthal and family of Wisconsin Rapids, and Mrs. Ray Barth, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer and Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams of Granton.
