Drapes, Catherine (1912? - 3 DEC 1932)

Erling Iverson, 20, and his companion, Miss Catherine Drapes, 20, both of Stevens Point, were burned to death in wreckage of Iverson's automobile near Wis. Rapids early Saturday morning.

The car, a light roadster, upset in a ditch beside Highway 54, five miles east of Wis. Rapids, after a blowout of one of the tires.

Marks on the pavement indicated Iverson tried desperately to control the machine. Twice it skidded across the road and then landed on it top tightly pinning both occupants beneath.

Fred Dalton of Wis. Rapids stopped beside the flaming wreckage, but the gasoline tank exploded as he approached and the flames drove him back. Iverson was killed instantly, but Miss Drapes screamed for several minutes, he said.

Iverson and Miss Drapes had attended a dance at Wis. Rapids, and were on their way home. Iverson was a clerk in a drug store. Miss Drapes ia a sister of Mrs. Harry Moberg and visited in Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) many times while the Moberg family resided here.
