Porter, Manly (06 December, 1887 - 08 August 1968)

Manly Porter, 80, of Riplinger died at 2:30 p.m. August 8, at St. Joseph's Hospital due to complications. He had been a patient there for a few days.

Services were held Monday, august 12 at 2 p.m. at the Myre Funeral Home and burial was made in the Loyal cemetery. The Rev. Conrad Mickelson officiated.

Pallbearers were Gary, Mike and Clifford Porter, Alvin Ramm, Allen Degenhardt and Delmar Pieper.

Mr. William Chambers was the soloist and he was accompanied by Mrs. Byron Zepplin at the organ. Selections were "Rock of Ages" and "Nearer My God To Thee"

Mr. Porter was born December 6, 1887 at Black River Falls and at the age of five he moved to Sparta. A few years later he went to Wauzeka where he received his education. November 17, 1913 he married the former Pearl Lathrop at Fennimore. After their marriage the couple moved to Fennimore where he was employed as a cheese maker. In 1947 he moved to Taylor County and in 1947 to Clark County. The past 21 years he has resided in Riplinger.

Besides his wife he is survived by four sons, Edward, Marinette; Charles, Loyal; Glen, Wisconsin Rapids; and Earl, Manistique, Michigan; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Jessie) Ramm, Medford; and Mrs. Fred (Leora) Sell, Loyal; thirty grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and a sister, Mrs. Orman (Goldie) Nason, Porterfield.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
