Meihak, Mr. and Mrs. William (Golden - 21 June 1972)

Mr. and Mrs. William Meihak of Neillsville greeted well-wishers at a golden wedding anniversary open house Sunday afternoon in the American Legion Hall. The observance was planned for the couple by their children.

The Meihaks were married June 21, 1922, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Durst, in the Town of Hewett. The Rev. John Reiff officiated.

Mr. Meihak, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Meihak, was born in the Town of Weston, and the couple lived on the family farm there until they retired and moved to Neillsville in 1960. Mrs. Meihak was born at Plymouth and came to Clark County with her parents in 1905.

Both are members of Zion American Lutheran Church in the Town of Pine Valley, and she belongs to its Ladies Aid. Mr. Meihak is a former member of the Weston town board and his wife was a member of the hilltop Homemakers Club for many years.

Three of the couple’s children, together with their families, were present for the anniversary observance. A fourth child, Mrs. Evelyn Buchsteiner, who make her home in Waukegan, Il. is deceased.

In attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rockwood and daughters, Jeannine and Kath, of Cottage Grove, Mn; Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Storm and son, Brian, of Sheboygan; and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Meihak of St. Paul, Mn. Other grandchildren present were Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Buchsteiner of Madison, Gary Buchsteiner of Watertown, Ricky Buchsteiner of Neillsville and their sister, mrs. Gary Nelson and her husband and son, Joel of Middleton.

Relatives and friends attending the observance from out of town included: Mrs. Neomi Vandeberg, Springfield, Or; Dennis Zinsbar, Cottage Grave, Mn; Mr. and Mrs. Dan Barton, Silver lake, Mn; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Unrkes, Hutchinson, Mn; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Meyer, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Elmer and Lorena Elmer, Alvin Durst and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Rordtvedt, all of Plymouth; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Retschke and Mrs. Lizzie Retschke, Oshkosh; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Will and Diane, Colby; Mrs. Harry Hansen and Charlene, Withee; Mr. and Mrs. James Eckes and children and Mr. and Mrs. Werner Meihak, Marshfield.
