Mews, Lu Ann (Marriage - 22 July 1972)

Miss Lu Ann Mews became the bride of William Jerome Rueth in a double-ring ceremony performed Saturday afternoon, July 22, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal by the Very Rev. Norbert E. King. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Mews, Sr., of Rt. 2 Spencer. Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Rueth of Rt. 2 Loyal are the groom’s parents. Mr. Mews presented his daughter in marriage.

A white Empire-style gown fashioned with a scooped neckline, long, lace sleeves and a long full train was chosen by the bride. Her veil was held by a beaded white lace crown. She carried an arrangement of orchid roses and white carnations.

Coleen Mews, Spencer, as maid of honor, and June Schmidt and Mary Rueth, Loyal, as bridesmaids, carried nose-gay bouquets of white carnations and orchid roses. Their orchid-skirted Empire-style gowns, which featured purple and white printed bodices, accented by long, orchid sleeves, harmonized with orchid hats.

Joseph Weyer, Loyal, served as bestman. Groomsmen were Mike Rueth and Thomas Bauer, both of Loyal. DuWayne Mews, Mosinee, and Allan Schultz, Merrill, acted as ushers. Soloist Mrs. Allen Schoonover was accompanied by Mrs. Richard Korn.

A reception at the Spencer municipal hall was followed by a dance where music was provided by Jennie and her Polka Katz.

The newlyweds are alumni of Loyal High School. She is employed as a bookkeeper and he is engaged in farming.
