“Luke, wait up,” I shouted as I ran after my five feet, ten inch friend, who has just finished with football practice. “I know women are you pet peeve because they create so many problems, but I have one myself.”

“No lie.”

“Will you help me out or won’t you?”

“Yeah Jack, I’ll help you.”

“All right, all right; my name is Robert E. Lukas; I am seventeen years old, born on June 17, 1949, and have brown hair and hazel eyes and my serial number is ….”

“Stop! I just want to know if you will come to my party tonight?”

“Sure, if you serve sirloin steaks, duck, pheasant, southern fried chicken and fresh corn on the cob. Seriously though, I don’t think I can make it. I have a bonfire committee meeting right now, intramural basketball tonight, and I have to practice my lines for the lead in “Our Town,” you know, the Junior Class play.

“Yes, I understand; what about tomorrow?”

“Oh college, I suppose River Falls.”

“No, no, I mean tomorrow, the day after this one.”

“Nothing much.”

“Good! We can have it then. Do you have any good suggestions for a fun party?”

“Sure, how about a hunting or fishing party? No, forget that. Don’t take any advice, go out and make you own mistakes. You’ll learn more that way.”

“Don’t forget to bring a record.”

“How about ‘Lemon Tree’ or ‘Dedicated to the One I Love’ or “I Think We’re Alone Now.”

“O.K. fine. See you tomorrow and wear your favorite orange and blue sweater.”
