David Lee Becker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Becker of Colby, and Miss Judith Marie Irwin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Irwin, we Crestwood Drive, Stevens Point, were united in marriage Saturday, June 11.  The wedding took place in St. Stanislaus Catholic church at Stevens Point with the Father Albert Thomas officiating before the altar decorated with baskets of white gladiolus.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, appeared in a floor length white silk crepe bridal gown with a silk empire waist top and elbow length sleeves.  The detachable circular train was also of silk crepe.  Her shoulder length veil was fastened to a bow headpiece.  She carried a bouquet of yellow roses and white daisies.

The maid of honor, Miss Muriel Irwin, sister of the bride, and the bridesmaids, Dorothy and Mary Becker, both sisters of the groom, and Mrs. Jerry Furstenburg, were attired in yellow silk taffeta brocade floor length gowns.  The bodices were fashioned with modified scoop necklines with yellow satin ribbon and a bow accenting the empire waistline.  Each wore a white, wide brimmed hair braid garden hat trimmed with white daisies.  Each of the bridal attendants carried a bouquet of white daisies.

Peggy Becker, sister of the groom, as flower girl, wore a shite dress with yellow brocade inserts and trimmed in yellow satin ribbon.  She carried a nosegay of white daisies.

Best man was Emil Radeztsky of Marshfield, and the groom’s attendants were John Becker, Gerald Meyer, both of Colby, and David Pamquist, Stevens Point.

Ring bearer was Kirk Fleischauer, cousin of the groom.

Performing the ushering duties were Robert Shirek, Fond du Lac, and Peter Kopplin, Stevens Point.

James Benzmiller was the organist for the occasion and he accompanied David Dick, soloist, as he sang “The Song of Ruth and the Ring”.

Baskets of white gladiolus and daisies adorned the buffet table at the Stevens Point country club where the reception was held for over 200 guests following the wedding.

The new bride has been a student at Stevens Point university and the groom, a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, graduated from Stevens Point university on June 5.  He is presently employed at Jim Laabs Music Store, Stevens Point.

Following a wedding trip to northern Wisconsin and Michigan, the newlyweds will make their home at 2616 Center Street, Stevens Point, Wis.

Guests attending the wedding were from New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Colby, Marshfield, Plymouth, Dorchester, Stetsonville, Medford, Spencer, Wisconsin Rapids, Green Bay and numerous relatives and friends from Stevens Point and surrounding areas.

Pre-nuptial parties were given by Mrs. E. Euler and Mrs. Bart LaBrat at the Euler home in Stevens Point; Mrs. J. D. Mainland, Mrs. Maynard La Brat, Mrs. Robert Alhete and Mrs. Robert Krembs entertained for the groom and his parents at the Mainland home in Whiting, Wis., and Mrs. Emil Fleischauer Jr., aunt of the groom, held and informal coffee hour and shower at her home in Park Ridge.
