Horswill, Robert John (5 November 1925 - 21 November 1972)

Robert Horswill, 47, Black River Falls, auto salesman, and native of Neillsville, died at 6 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Hospital. At press time, arrangements for services were incomplete at the Georgas Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon from the Georgas Funeral Home for Robert John Horswill, 47, of Black River Falls, who died November 21 in Neillsville. The Rev. Melvin Nickel of the United Methodist Church officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Robert Horswill, the son of Richard M. and Libbie (Bowman) Horswill, was born November 5, 1925, in Neillsville and was educated here, graduating from Neillsville High School in 1944. He enlisted in the Navy and served in the Pacific area during World War II, receiving his discharge of June 1, 1946. His marriage to the former Rosetta Paun took place August 10, 1946, in Bakerville.

Mr. Horswill was in business in Neillsville as a car salesman, and as operator of the Pontiac garage, the Pool Hall and the All-Aboard lunch car. For the last eight years, he was employed in Black River Falls.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include two children, Jerry Horswill and Miss Marilyn Horswill, both of Neillsville; a sister, Mrs. Wayne (Joyce) Wall of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and four brothers, Edward Horswill of Milwaukee, Merlin Horswill of Hales Corners, Halbert Horswill of Neillsville and High Horswill of Janesville.

Pallbearers were Robert Schiller, Moose Peterson, Vern Stevens, Bruce Clark, David Rolf and Willis Stichert.

The Misses Cheri and Linda Diers sang “The Old Rugged Cross: and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.” Linda Diers was the organist.

Those from out of town who attended the services were Mr. and Mr. Edward Horswill, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Horswill, Hales Corners; Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Horswill, Janesville; Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Moberg, Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Willis Stichert, Chili; Mr. and Mrs. Vern Stevens and Mr. and Mrs. John Day, Spencer; Floyd Rossman, Al Brockway, Moose Peterson, Phillip Mills, Dave Rolf, Charyln Rahn, Bruce Clark and Rosemary Garbisch, Black River Falls; Mrs. Tim Parrot, Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Mead; Thorp; Leland Schweikl, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Horswill and family and Howard Bowen, Wisconsin Rapids.
