Grace United Methodist Church (Meets - 1973)

The United Methodist Women met Friday afternoon in Grace Church. Mrs. Verlyn Sloniker presided and gave the worship topic. Mrs. Ruth Verhulst gave the Scripture lesson.

Mrs. Henry Keller and Mrs. Viv Carteron reported that 303 pounds of clothing were delivered to the First Presbyterian Church in Marshfield for the World Service clothing drive. Members were asked to remember nine-year-old Julie Opelt, a patient at memorial Hospital, Neillsville, with a fractured leg. “Thank you” notes were received from Harlan Haunschild, Mrs. Florence Schwarze, Mrs. Cark Hatton and the family of William Kuester.

Members were asked to save coupons for the Northcott Neighborhood House in Milwaukee to complete payments on a bus. The placemats have arrived and the cook book church project was discussed. Recipes are to be written on recipe cards and handed to Mrs. Sloniker. A committee will be appointed to edit them.

Mrs. David Rakestraw and Mrs. James Hribar will represent Grace Church at the World Day of Prayer service March 2 at Holy Family Church in Willard. Mrs. Truman Hill, program chairman, read an article on “Church, Old and New.” Mrs. Francis Clintsman recommended a new reading list. A lunch was serviced by Mrs. Lydia Tieman and Mrs. Francis Clintsman.

The next meeting will be held March 9. Hostesses will be Mrs. Wilbur Stewart and Mrs. Edith Stafford. Mrs. Glen Drew is program chairman.
